Privacy Statement

Approved by the Good Shepherd vestry 12/19/2023

General: Good Shepherd collects and retains a certain amount of personally identifiable information about our parishioners in electronic databases, including names, addresses, contributions, and donations. Some of this information is also available in printed form through our Parish Directory. This is done so we can communicate with you effectively, manage our finances, and help you communicate with each other. Also, personal images are available through our parish directory and online through our website, Facebook, and YouTube. We follow applicable regulations regarding the recording and retention of such images and make reasonable precautions to avoid unauthorized or inadvertent disclosure of personal information. We do not sell or disclose information to commercial entities or other not-for-profit organizations and only share information in aggregate with the Diocese of Olympia, the Episcopal Church, and other church organizations for the purposes of planning and reporting Church of the Good Shepherd activity.

VANCO: For the convenience of our parishioners and to facilitate donations, we maintain an electronic giving interface through VANCO. Those parishioners who use VANCO have agreed to the VANCO terms and conditions of service. In addition, because of the way VANCO is set up under a master Diocesan account, several people at the Diocesan level can access individual donor financial information, and our assistant treasurer also has that access. Our financial policies strictly prohibit the assistant treasurer from accessing bank account or credit card information, and we will not, under any circumstances, change contributions or redirect contribution amounts or initiate or close individual accounts.
